Not necessarily. A lot of the time they are projects hurting for donations. You can always opt out or use a temporary email service.
An example is HaikuOS. I like supporting alternative operating systems but I wouldn’t want to sign up for Libreapay.
It requires a sign up. I believe it uses Stripe and PayPal for payment processing as well. It does allow you to do one time donations privately and it has decent terms and conditions though.
As far as I can see, the only application of cryptocurrency is to facilitate crime: money laundering, ransom, paying for contraband, etc.
