Even back in the Windows 3.1 or 95 days I didn’t have to reboot this often - sometimes twice a day. Seems a bit excessive?

Before I figured out that I could disable offline updates, I had the same user experience as OP. Well, I ignored it when it told me that I needed to reboot…
