No I get it, when your kids and family are killed, there is nothing off the table to exact retribution. It’s a long and complicated conflict.

Hamas killed 1000 in the terrorist attack. Israel has in retribution killed 5000 and 2500 of those were children - so far …

Bay Ridge is a Middle Eastern neighborhood and many of those in attendance have family in Gaza. This is life or death for their families; the pain of settler colonialism and the apartheid state of Israel runs deep.

Shows that brutality isn’t just a middle east problem. Also - a peaceful protest in support of humanity would be understandably, but I certainly hope these protestors were protesting in support of ending war on both sides - and NOT supporting the barbaric horrible perversity of what Hamas did to Israel - that is indefensible and unsupportable by any means.

Yeah the Hamas attack was terrible, but that doesn’t put Israel on the right side of the conflict.

What else is Hamas supposed to do?

It’s easy for us to sneer down at them from some ivory tower about morals and whatever, but practically speaking their only other choice is to lay down and die.

“All violence is unjustifiable”-type liberals are incapable of understanding the situation. Every single suggestion of what Palestinians could do instead has been tried and tried again.

Fuck off with the both sides nonsense. Only one side has the power to end the violence and it isn’t the Palestinians.

You think that if Israel stopped their colonizing the conflict would be over?

Hell, Gaza is, apparently, the most radical area and Israel officially dismantled the settlements there a decade ago.

The Houthis literally call for the destruction of Israel and death of all Jews in their motto, and they’re not even neighbors. There’s a whole two countries between Israel and Yemen.

Imagine what the people in Palestine feel.

This shit won’t be over. Humans are very, very bad at forgetting past wrongs, especially when religion is involved, and our worst always see peacemakers as weak, not brave.

But don’t worry, soon enough the resource wars will start in earnest and the question will get settled one way or another.

Its less about stopping colonization and the only option to end the conflict is Israel leaving the area entirely. If Palestine is eliminated, they are surrounded by countries that dont want Israel there. Israel has no incentive to end conflict as they receive continuous funding as long as there is an opponent. The only way the conflict will ever be resolved is with them leaving.

This doesn’t look peaceful, here are some other news resources:

Both use language suggesting the protesters were “aggressive” and didn’t comply with police presence to contain the protest.

That said, details seems to be limited, so I hope we get more clarity and video footage to illuminate what exactly happened and who instigated.
