Former landed gentry.
Exactly. It also gives you an annual estimate of the electric costs. I have no idea how accurate it is, but since they all use the same rating, I can at least compare on the fly if I am so inclined.
Mostly seems a bit silly but I think if people were making any sort of large decisions based on it, I would probably raise an eyebrow. But I like the idea of people considering the environmental impact of everything they do. Crypto Bros sure could’ve used that lesson.
It’s not like it’s doing any harm unless people put too much stock into it. Like the energy star rating on my HVAC unit - it’s just information to me. It’s not like I’m making major decisions based off of it or getting the feel goods. No reason this can’t be like that.
Probably positioning. Land lines generally went the length of your whole face. The mic was angled and right in front of your mouth.
I’m just tired of watching people advancing the right’s goal of demonizing her because of her politics. Yes private jets are ridiculous. No I wish she wouldn’t use it. Yes I agree she shouldn’t have sent that C&D (though I also understand she probably feels like having her whereabouts constantly published is more of an issue now that the right has all these conspiracies about her, just my guess though).
But ultimately, this is mostly fueled by the right. People are just steering into that skid for some reason. This is about her more than it is her jet usage.

Same reason I like running retro consoles/hardware. The process itself is part of the fun.
I did a lot of stuff with CRT’s during ‘Rona and man sometimes that whine just pierced my ears - my dog (RIP love ya bud) would just look at me and slowly walk off every time lol
It doesn’t say anything about getting rid of their cell phone for one. The article says quite the opposite actually.
While Gen Zers definitely don’t need a landline — still relying on their cellphones for virtually everything — it’s the aesthetic of “2000s nostalgia” that makes the relic so attractive to them.
It’s 2024. Stop using that word. I know I don’t need to explain why.
If they ever did this I’d probably riot over tagalongs.
