Whether or not you have sugar is quite controversial too. I was raised in a “look down on the sugar people” family. Some people are more live and let live. I think I try to be the latter but if you say you want 3 sugars I have my nans voice in my head going “If you hate the taste of tea that much just have something else”.

In the UK it’s tea and toast, a lot of kids by 4 or 5 can make tea and toast.
2·7 months agoDespite being the root cause of a few stereotypes of black people, it is notable that the black people in the novel actually have character development throughout that breaks at least some of those stereotypes.
We actually had some great discussions about this, about the changing nature of acceptability, it’s made me much happier to adjust my vocabulary over the years and to consider the way I speak.
I said it didn’t really impact me but actually, looks like it actually did a bit!
I think its quite easy if you’re involved in an industry, as long as you’re on some facebook pages or forums then you’re kept up to date almost accidentally.
What jobs are trying to rule out are those guys who took a course in something then just keep doing the same thing forever more.
When I was a teenager and I lived at the beach I gave up shoes for a whole summer, it was nice and my feet hardened fine, but in the city with all the people who don’t watch their step and all the shit, both actual and figurative, on the floor, it’s dangerous.
I read “The Colour Purple” at around 14 and it had a big impact on me. Lots of opportunities to discuss race, slavery, inequality in general.
I also read Uncle Toms Cabin around the same age which I found much harder to connect with but others in my class found that very impactful.

As a former teacher, I’d never consider something a student bought me as a romantic gift, that’s just not a thing. Chocolates are nice, but echoing what someone else said, a nice card with a message is really special. I still have every thank you card my students ever gave me, and I once printed out an email a student sent me when they got their first job to keep. It just gives you fuzzy feelings to think you may have been helpful.
We kind of have examples of this. People with limited experience struggle to put themselves outside what they know.
That’s a big gamble to take. EDS isn’t normally life limiting, but even if it was, you might be the outlier, and being elderly and disabled with no money is grim.
You’ve got mixed up there. If you plan to learn multiple languages then it is beneficial to learn as a child but even similar languages, like English and French, can cause issues communicating when young. When learning vastly different languages especially when one is written and one signed it causes a lot of issues. This can leave a deaf child struggling to communicate for a time.
Often deaf parents will choose to stick to sign first.
I often send people pictures or articles on whatsapp while I’m talking to them, it’s just easier than going over to show them my phone. I definitely text if someone is out of speaking distance if it’s not urgent, stuff like “do you want X for dinner?”, that way they can get to it when it’s convenient.
It depends how much you plan to use it. If you’re going to wear something a few times then a long lasting piece of clothing is wasteful.
I agree, but things like “Sp”, is that common in italian? I’m not sure but I’m thinking not. It’s interesting and now I need someone with an Italian toddler to chip in.
When I did buy eggs I bought woodland eggs with a story on the side. Also a scam, but like, slightly better… kinda?
Like even in the ads you can see they’re packed in, but I bet there’s some bugs to eat there, and they can scratch dirt.
I dunno, commercialising animals is just all a bit grim really.
I feel like “Okay” for a new food is normal. I’ve never loved a new food the first time, it’s either gross or fine and if it’s fine then maybe I need to cook it different or just try it a few different ways before it’s more familiar then I’ll enjoy it.
Basically this might be a food that in 20-30 years she’s sitting down with her kid and making them try it cause it’s “the best food” and being really upset by a lacklustre response.
