It has an older i3 quadcore @ 3ghz max with 16gb ram and 1tb nvme, can’t remember the model number.
I think idle without any VMs or containers running is around 6.5W, so no it’s not much lower.

Anecdotally my NUC runs 2 linux VMs and a couple of LXCs, so it’s never truly idling, and pulls an average of 7.5W.
No point in keeping the torrent if I no longer have the file. Unless it’s something I know I will re-watch/use multiple times, I delete the file after I’ve used it.
With the significant difference being that a KB still works for it’s primary purpose even if not actively developed on anymore. Liftoff is completely broken for a lot of the fediverse, so it’s not able to do the only thing a Lemmy app is supposed to do…browse Lemmy instances.
If you insist on keeping broken software on the list, at least make a note that is broken and not currently maintained.
Liftoff hasn’t been touched for more than 6 months…it’s absolutely abandoned, no need point people in the direction of dead and deprecated apps.
B) They collect significantly more data from the first party app than they were able to from the third party apps, and they’re selling that data for a significant sum of money beyond just their own ad ecosystem.
My money is on this being the reason…the official reddit app is ridiculously invasive.
No we all get that, but I don’t think many see the reason to use a dedicated app? The functionality you’re asking for is literally just a basic timer…
Don’t know what phone you have, but the default clock on my phone has a timer with different levels of alarm (beeping, vibrate, both, notification only).
I would assume phone wide notification is the better option, because then it always notifies you no matter if the app is open or not, allowing you to also use your phone for other stuff without stopping the timer.
I don’t know of such a FOSS app (but also didn’t know the concept), and honestly just don’t see why anyone would need it. Is hitting a reset button seriously such a deal breaker?
That is what this is though…set a timer for 30min, when I beeps look at something far away for 30s (roughly, exact time isn’t actually important) and then press the “reset timer” button. Repeat until you don’t want to anymore, and then just stop the timer.
Not every single small thing should be an independent app…
Doping enables the craziest things…also, they never do the bulk of their training in Denmark.
That’s a massive downside IMO. I still use it, but not having access to basic things like the macro or wide angle lens or slow motion capture is a major issue that I always find incredibly annoying. My camera is a lot less useful with that app, and I tend to just not take pictures anymore because of it.
I’ve been through a couple of different setups and sizes over the years from 1gal to 10gal. I don’t even drink beer every day so a 5gal batch often lasts way beyond the timeframe I want to drink it.
I’ve settled on 2-5gal batch sizes now, and mostly do 2gal batches with the occasional 5gal if it’s for aging or specifically sharing. There’s not much to it in regards to scaling down, just use a recipe calculator to scale because it’s not linear. Dead space, volume of wort in hoses etc. of course have a much larger impact on smaller batches, so keep that in mind.
The hardest part for me is getting a setup that does both 2gal and 5gal well, I haven’t found a “one size fits all” setup yet. But what I have now can do medium-gravity 2gal batches to 5gal medium/high-gravity batches. If I want a 2gal batch <6% ABV it’s doable but not as easy or efficiency is complete shit.
For almost 100€ I can just get much more capable hardware with only marginally larger footprint (both physical and power). Unless I needed the pin IO, the pi is a bad deal. And then if youre just beginning you also need a case, SD card and power supply and suddenly that pi is almost 150€ (and still running a shitty 16gb SD card), making it a horrible deal. I got my NUC, 16gb of ram and 1tb NVME for the same price (before upgrades with the default 8gb ram and 120gb nvme it was 65€), if you’re planning on a miniature light weight home server setup, its just a no-brainer to not pick the pi.
And the zero doesn’t have the ability to use any peripherals except for a display.
I don’t know why there is so much Opposition to the pi
It’s because they’ve become way too expensive for what they are. They made perfect sense and filled a gap when they were priced half of what they are now. They’ve completely lost the direction or purpose they once had, or intentionally changed it to be something else entirely. And it seems that just doesn’t align well with many people.
Yet they’re still inferior to even older x86 hardware. You can pick up a used NUC (or similar) for less than a pi 4 and it blows it out of the water on performance, while using only marginally more power.
That requires effort…I’ll pass
Hmm, my lineage OS phone passes basic integrity check, and my banking apps all work as intended, as do other government apps. But this damn 2FA app is still complaining and refuses to work, saying the phone is insecure.
This means that over a span of 20 years, even with perfect use, there is a 33% chance for a pregnancy
No this is completely inaccurate and wrong…there’s a 33% risk of a condom failing. You’d still have to time it with ovulation of the person you’re boinking for there to be a risk of pregnancy. And even then, having sex in the most optimal period isn’t even a guarantee of pregnancy, far from it.
How well does apps that require locked bootloaders, non-rooted device etc. work on grapheneOS? We have an official 2FA app in my country that’s used for digital identification for everything from banking to social security services. Right now it isn’t working on my oneplus 9p with lineage, despite using magisk and passing safetynet check, because it still detects that my phone is rooted.
Blender is not CAD software though, it’s 3D modelling software. They’re not quite the same thing, and they’re intended for (and excel at) different things.
