I cooked food for 20 years. Now I build computers and dive down Linux 🐇 🕳️ on a personal learning journey.
Mostly, I cat sit and watch anime when not gaming or editing files.
Fibromyalgia sucks! Existence is pain and resistance is futile. Thanks for noticing me.

Hear me out … Embrace the Chromebook easy life.
For your consideration:
Work/Development based?
Gamer?
Otherwise on Fedora, brush up on RPM Fusion.
Because patent encumbrance is fun.
On Android Tubular is pretty awesome.
CLIphobia is a new one to me.
I have a Brother HL-L2395DW
Tho when I went to add it as a printer, my system automatically selected the “reccomended” drivers on Plasma 6+.
I remember on older Plasma, that you still had to select Brother
first, then search for model type.
At that next screen or if I edit my current printer, I searched for L23
:
By generic printer driver, I meant the cups/driverless one on this selection screen. Opposed to any official Brother
or GutenPrint
drivers/ppd files.
I did try searching for your exact model, but nothing showed for me…tho I can’t tell if that’s because mine is already wireless/UPnP and grabbing only it’s settings.
I’m using the Brother HL-L2395DW series, driverless, 2.0.0
I Just have to also make sure duplex printing is set to on, both system and firefox/application whatever settings.
On Firefox I use Flip on long edge
.
Have you tried using the driverless cups driver tho?
I 🎮 on Bazzite BTW.
You can type switcheroo list
in terminal and find out.
Tho this would mean it wasn’t related to iGPU switching issue.
Here’s to Plasma 6.1 hopefully fixing more display issues for people with esync and 3x buffering for Wayland.
For Flatpak Steam/Lutris one can use Flatseal to easily add drive locations/access as much or little as you want to tweak.
Issues because of having an iGPU?
Switcheroo is patched on Bazzite.
switcherooctl
to make sure Flatpaks etc are using the correct dedicated GPU and not trying to use iGPUs.
Tho an update was on the 18th that was supposed to fix some issues people were having.
(Weeks ago steam was trying to use my iGPU again on my AMD system, and that’s when I learned about switcheroo list
etc etc. sometimes Flatpak Games like B.A.R.
were trying to do the same thing. Bleh!)
You can also force .desktop
or shortcuts on KDE Plasma to run using dedicated GPUs by Right Clicking >

Or… Was this an Adaptive Sync issue…in that case try turning that off. sometimes I skim over things when replying.
Anyway, Discourse, Discord and GitHub are all good ways to get in touch/help with the community vs Lemmy/Mastodon. Sometimes I feel like an Ambassador.
I do love the term “Rufiee E.U.L.A.”
Because honestly that’s mostly what they are.
Been on Bazzite myself since the F38 Beta.
I haven’t had to so much as perform a rollback even once on my AMDxAMD desktop.
In fact the upgrade from versions isn’t even a worry anymore.
I played some games, turned off my computer at the Fedora 40 launch and magically it upgraded to Bazzite 40 the next time I booted up, with 0 effort on my part.

I like K-9 (soon to be Thunderbird)
Me playing with my 7900XTX no issues on Bazzite
Also consider Universal Blue Kinoite or Bazzite:
Think Fedora Kinoite, but with extra goodness.
Miss the AUR? Just spin up an Arch Distrobox with ujust distrobox-arch
and export whatever you want. just
and distrobox are pretty amazing.
Can also do the same with Ubuntu/Debian distroboxes.
Atomic Fedora is amazing.
Have an Nvidia card?
Images also available for Framework and Surface as well.
Wanna make your own IMG?
Wanna focus more on work/development?
I lost my father to Glioblastoma. 🫂
Mostly it’s about using room temp water in the pot.
If you use hot water, thinking they will cook faster, that’s the step that will make them gluey for sure.
So start them off in room temp water.
I prefer unpeeled Red Bliss 🥔 myself.
I simmer some milk or cream and butter with some roasted garlic for the real goodness.
Bigger potatoes, chunk em into quarter size.
Definitely peel starchy potatoes.
Waxy ones like Red Bliss or Golden/New Potatoes, I leave the skin on for nutrients/nutrition.
And don’t let them sit in the water after for too long, at least drain them first if you aren’t gonna mash right away before serving.
You didn’t say what CPU you are choosing. 5500X3D and 5700X3D are literally around the corner. But for gaming the 5800X3D would be best in slot for AM4.
You also didn’t say If you live near a Microcenter:
Now the real fun is doing 5 gallons of soup, breaking out the industrial immersion blender and xanthum gum.
Blender > clumps.
