Maturity plays a much more important role than age. Some people are never fit to marry, some have what it takes by the time they are 16/17. It’s not often that it plays out well for the youngest ones, and since each year brings new experiences and understandings each year moves along the bell curve of “marriage readiness”. So is it more likely that a 24 year old is more ready for marriage than a 18 year old. Yes. Is it guaranteed? No. I know some 50/60 year olds that still aren’t ready for marriage. They just never learned the skills it takes to have a healthy marriage. Giving an age as a hard cutoff is too arbitrary a measure. Age doesn’t guarantee shit.

There isn’t a blind faith that religions are toxic and there isn’t zealotry or fanatic is from it. At most people are extremely firm that religion have no place in their life or part of their government. And that is how it should be. No religion should dictate law. There is however, overwhelming evidence that religions have been some of largest perpetrators of crimes against humanity. Whether it’s the crusades, the rampant pedophilia, the constant hate towards any different person or person not following their ascribed way of life, the enforcement of religious law on people who did not ask for it. Religion for all the good it can carry about love one another etc., is a double edge sword just as frequently used for hate and destruction.

When did I say I was an aethiest? And I am not wrong. I’ve watched it happen in organized religion my whole life. If you aren’t diligent in ensuring that you question things appropriately it leads to blind faith and adherence to whatever is said regardless of whether it should be followed. And many religious people think God’s word is above man’s law at all times.

What I’m speaking to aren’t absolutes, but they are a commonality which is disturbing enough.
