Oh, I think we’re all laughing at the inanity of it
Instead of a “renaissance man”, I’m a “renaissance nerd”. Pinball? Sure. Sci-fi? Of course. video games? Natch. 70’s Italian Prog-rock? A raison d’etre.
Oh, I think we’re all laughing at the inanity of it
As a “casual”, what happened? Full price on top of pay-to-win? Something else?
Since I got downvoted on this - among other things, Patreon is removing the “per post” subscription model. One of the people I follow sent: “This is the second time in as many years that Patreon has screwed up my business”
It’s also PATREON fucking up. I’ve got a couple people i follow that are moving to Ghost as a hedge.
I’ve been using persistent windows for the same reason, and it does t seem to play well with multiple browser windows on multiple screens. Just FYI
I got something similar, but about talking with a physician before taking a drug.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor: dead flag blues
I remember listening to this, six months into the pandemic, walking through the grocery store with most people masked up and staying away from others, and there were some people in there totally unmasked, looking at us. The fucking strangest feeling.
Font looks like Sam’s, and I saw similar Christmas stuff there recently
I’d argue yes. And it’s still a combination of “exceedingly competent and yes still incompetent in other ways”. The intelligence is here, to paraphrase William Gibson, it’s just unevenly distributed
Sure, years later. They flew the stealth fighter f-117a around in Nevada for 10 years before it became public knowledge. The government is simultaneously capable and incapable. Different groups have different responsibilities, different budgets, different helpers and detractors, etc.
Same thing with Trump. He is simultaneously capable and incapable. He can barely put sentences together, but has like-minded people who are less incompetent, able to push extreme policies through. And there are other groups using him as a tool as well. They don’t care about and will shove him once he’s no longer useful. But he’s very good at taking attention away from other things.
Overall you’re right. But there are some notable exceptions. Arguably Iran/Contra, the CIA spying on all phone calls, the Drug War. But the big one would be The Manhattan Project, since it employed literally hundreds of thousands of people.
Jwz’s 2nd law!
Correct. They don’t pay you to code. They pay you to solve problems, which normally ARE solved by code, but they really don’t care how.
Honestly, I just hope Siri transcription for iMessage gets better, and that the music app will actually do a decent job of recognizing the artist/album/thing I want to listen to.
Not true! Mine’s exceptionally ugly, so I think “I really need to replace it” the instant I walk in.
Shoegaze is actually called that because the bands all have a ton of effects pedals, and they’re constantly changing settings and moving from pedal to pedal. So it looks like they’re staring at their shoes. I’ve never heard of it referring to spectators, though in hindsight I’ve done that a couple of times at shows, so…maybe?
Remember kids: you can buy musicians ear-plugs that mean you can keep listening to it your whole life without crippling phantom noise all the time.
YO SOY UN AVOGAHDO
And the entirety of Brute Force. “Engage Brute Force Attack”. Shellcode, userspace, deadlock… such a fantastic album.
