I was on the fence until this. This is extremely unprofessional and, if I understand correctly, could even get the company sued. Here’s how I’d personally handle it; but take this with a grain of salt because I’ve never actually had to deal with something like this before:

First, talk to a lawyer. Tell them what’s going on an get their thoughts and suggestions. The suggestions following may be way off-base.

Then, start keeping track of every time she brings something like that up, and log how you responded, how it made you feel, how she reacted to you response. You’re collecting evidence for a lawsuit on the basis of a toxic and highly unprofessional work environment that’ll hopefully never actually happen.

Once you have enough info that you could potentially launch said lawsuit, double-check with your lawyer and then you go to HR.

YOUR LAWYER WILL LIKELY TELL YOU THIS: DO NOT THREATEN A LAWSUIT. DO NOT EVEN HINT AT A LAWSUIT. DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT A LAWSUIT, PERIOD. IF YOU MAKE ANY MENTION OF LEGAL ACTION THEN YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR CHANCES OF HAVING A POSITIVE OUTCOME FROM THIS MEETING. THEY ARE ALMOST GUARANTEED TO FIRE YOU AND THEN IMMEDIATELY LAWYER UP. THEY MAY EVEN ATTEMPT TO DESTROY EVIDENCE IF THEY THINK IT’S PREFERABLE TO A SUCCESSFUL LAWSUIT.

Make sure you log your interaction with HR as well; what you discussed, if you felt your concerns were heard during the meeting, and then make a follow-up log a week or two later to note if there was any change as a result of your meeting.

If there was no change, talk to your lawyer and consider trying again (and log everything again), and again, do not threaten, mention or even hint at any kind of legal action whatsoever. You’re trying to give the company ample chance to respond to your concerns.

If there was still no change, go talk to your lawyer about the possibility of pursuing legal action. It could be legitimately worth it, especially if they decide to fire you after your first or second meeting with HR.

Your goal is to have a paper trail so long and thorough that you can hang them with it (figuratively, in court) if necessary.

I do too. It’s a comfort series for me and I’ve never seen someone who can make the Sims so funny. CallMeKevin and Jerma come close, but Joel’s series was a non-stop trainwreck.

Sadly I think too much has changed since Joel last did it for him to revive it without starting from scratch (I think he talked about it recently, but I can’t remember). His Sims 2 streams are a good spiritual continuation of it though.

There are still companies that make physical copies, but typically it’s in limited quantities and sadly I’ve found that most of them (especially one of the big ones, LRG) can be pretty scummy. I think the only two I’ve found that are worth buying stuff from are iam8bit and fangamer.

I sometimes hear furries mess up and refer to women as “female humans” or something along those lines, but that’s mainly because furries usually think in “male/female” instead of “man/woman” (or at least all the ones I’ve met seem to). For an example, “Cat-woman” can be kinda ambiguous and (at least imo) sounds kinda odd since “woman” is usually exclusive to female humans. In this example, are we talking about a woman who’s obsessed with cats, a woman who is a cat (a female feline with human features), an anime cat girl (a woman with cat features), or a DC Comics character (a woman who dresses up like a cat)?

Otherwise though, yeah. Yeah, especially, especially when someone refers to women as “females” as in “check out those females over there”. That’s creepy. Even furries would rather say something like, “check out those gals over there”, regardless of context.

Honestly, that’s a reasonable take. I mean, there’s a world of a difference between using an AI to automatically unwrap and generate UVs or generate PBR maps from flat images vs having an AI auto-generate textures and models from scratch. What’ll be interesting is to see where the line ends up being drawn.

The problem with that is that copyright is viral. If you take a photo of a work under copyright, then your photo is also under that copyright. You own the copyright on the photo, but the original copyright holder owns the rights for the reproduction of the copyrighted work; meaning you both own copyright on the photo.

It usually isn’t enforced, but you can see an example of this when news stations get sent C&Ds or DMCAs because some chucklefuck with a loud stereo decided to harass them (at least, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of news stations getting legal letters as a result of someone playing unlicensed music in the background).

To make matters worse, because anything can be considered artistic with a good enough story, you can potentially claim copyright on reproductions of public domain works if you alter them in some way; even if that’s just by changing the spelling of some names.

“Fun” fact: this is why some museums try to stop you from taking photos. The artifacts and paintings being presented may not be under copyright anymore, but the museum is claiming copyright on the presentation of the artwork or artifact, not the artwork or artifact itself. Afaik it’s never gone to court so no one knows if it’d actually hold up (I think they usually cite other reasons for kicking you out, which makes it harder to fight), but you’d have to go to court to find out and there’s no penalty for them falsely claiming copyright.

All that said, however, it doesn’t take much for it to be considered derivative.

Yet, still, just putting the image into a bot and tell it to make a copy wouldn’t be enough to free it from copyright; you just can’t claim copyright on the (unauthorized) reproduction. The bar is pretty low unless it can be proven that you intended to infringe on someone’s copyright (putting a image through a bot with the express purpose of getting a “copyright-free” copy would qualify), or even just awareness of someone’s work, even if you didn’t mean to copy it, can get you fucked.

There’s been a fun case or two recently where musicians got sued because their melodies were the same as someone else’s and the company was able to successfully argue that the original melodies were high-profile enough that said musicians must have been aware they were copying a melody.

Correct. I’m not all that invested in social media tbh. If all generalized social media went down (like Twitter, Lemmy, Reddit, Tumblr, but not discord, matrix, mumble, specialty media like enthusiast forums, etc), then it’d take some time for me to find a new place to get news and memes, but that’s primarily what I use social media for. News, memes, and occasionally venting into the comment section.

If you’re gonna charge for social media, you have to have a pretty good incentive for people to join. Social media is expected to be free. Now, if you had a larger network that didn’t just serve social media, but a wide variety of things like cloud storage, webhosting, game server hosting, etc in a walled garden that was designed to allow users to do mostly whatever they want while keeping bots out, now that I might be willing to pay for.
