Jabroa isn’t fully fleshed out yet either, but it does at least have a more complete feature set at the momeent. It’s mostly usable for day to day Lemmy browsing. Mlem isn’t there yet. Sounds like the dev is making great strides, so hopefully soon.

Maybe not…there is no place for me to see subbed communities, nor to search within the app. Until the development gets a little further, I’m just sticking with a pinned web app.
Aside from the more technical details about the refrigeration cycle, a heat pump is effectively an air conditioner run backwards.
When you run an AC unit, the coil in your air conditioner/furnace absorbs heat from the air stream and transfers it to the refrigerant (through phase change)…the refrigerant then goes to the condensing unit, where it condenses out of gas, expelling the heat absorbed, which is then radiated to the outside air.
With a heat pump, you’re taking heat from outside (yes, even when it’s cool or cold, there is still heat in the air outside), transferring it to the refrigerant, and then the heat is radiated inside the coil in the fan airstream…so you take heat from outside and bring it inside.
This is also why heat pumps lose efficiency when things get REALLY cold. It becomes much harder to extract heat from outside when it is extremely cold outside, plus the need for heat inside is much higher, and so the heat pump can struggle to keep up. This is also why a lot of heat pump systems in very cold climates use supplemental electric heat (or gas heat) to compensate for the drop in heating ability.
I’m also posting this from Mlem. What works works pretty well, but it is obviously still in beta for a reason, and the biggest reason is that it is missing some major things that make ray to day use very difficult. It is missing ability to see your subscribed communities unless you favorited them. It is missing the ability to search for communities, and to see anything you’ve already posted (your profile) or if you have a notification or reply. All of those core features need to be added pretty quickly.
Jerboa on Android is not perfect either but it is much further along in development at this stage.
Jerboa is a pretty nice app overall already. I use an iPhone as my main device, and Mlem is very incomplete at this stage (but it’s quite new). I loaded up Jerboa on a Pixel, though l, and was very impressed. Jerboa is far more polished…shame it’s Android only
First step is not to spit on the cake when you blow. Of course there will be some tiny, tiny amount that gets on the cake, but it shouldn’t be a lot.
