Additionally, Benevity could also have an option for donations to pro-Palestinian groups too since the only requirement for registration is that the org be a 501c3 which can be obtained by any non-profit. It’s not like Apple is choosing sides by allowing employees to donate to whichever causes they support as individuals.
No, but it’s commercial production. We do 3D video production.
Yes and yes. Currently I use Moon Player and that supports all the major formats - SBS (both full and half), OU (both full and half), 360 and 180 immersive, and fisheye videos too. It supports SMB shares through the Apple Files app, DLNA support, and work-in-progress YouTube support.
None of the people that own one that I know and none of the ones that we bought for our company use have had this issue. I’m convinced it’s from people setting it down on the front glass instead of using the provided cover.
I love how everyone that’s answering has all these hot takes and doesn’t own one when you specifically asked for answers from owners…
I have one. It’s awesome. The screen mirroring from Macs alone is worth it. The weight isn’t as bad as people claim but it is notable. Future versions will be better just by virtue of being lighter. I don’t use mine every day for productivity but I watch a lot of movies on it (especially 3D content) and it’s way better than watching on those old 3D TVs with the glasses. I use it mostly for recording spatial video for clients and we’re planning on buying more spatial cameras because of the success of that.
Gen 2 upgrades for me? Just keep making the battery life longer and keep making it lighter and slimmer, just like the evolution of iPhones and whatnot. Also, probably just a software update but a few of our team have one and it would be nice to share immersive environments/apps. Everyone is siloed in their own view currently.
Ok…and? If it doesn’t send it to Apple then they’re not tracking anything. Stop talking nonsense.
It seems it’s available for any input from the camera, not just FaceTime. The selection they showed was the menu bar camera usage indicator.
No. They don’t track anything. It’s all on-device.
At least I made an argument based in reality. You contributed nothing and made no point.
That is not true. Apple was disabling PWAs because the new EU regs require that they allow other browser engines for browsers and there are considerations that would need to be taken into account for end users. Since PWAs can be run in standalone modes, it is reasonable to expect that they would fall under those regulations as it’s still a browser engine displaying the content but without any window chrome. This changed after it was clarified that it only applies to browsers downloaded from App Stores, known as “dedicated browser applications”.
The idea that Apple was trying to “get rid of PWAs” is ridiculous since the entire reason the App Store didn’t exist on iPhone was that Apple was trying to push PWAs.
That’s not true, though. The way that PWAs render and run is different from the way they run inside of an app like a browser. Because they were required to allow different browser engines, it seems Apple initially thought that meant they needed to allow PWAs to run via different engines too, hence the initial stance. Based on the law, as written, It’s completely reasonable for them to interpret it that way. Since that’s not the case, they’re not changing the current PWA implementation.
How was it shortsighted? The only reason they made the decision in the first place was because they felt they were legally obligated to do so? It’s only staying as is because it turns out they’re not.
Edit: I don’t know why people are downvoting. The parent comment and reply to my comment are objectively incorrect.
I’m pretty sure that the bat is photoshopped in. Her hand position doesn’t look like it’s actually holding anything.
Not true. If someone was driving a car wearing the headset and got into a crash, how would that publicity be good exactly?
The only downside is that if you shift into VR from AR, your keyboard is occluded. Not so bad when you’re already typing but hard to find if you need to do something locally in meatspace and then need to come back. I feel like they need some training to keep the keyboard from occluding if it’s detected.
No. Life as you must be, though.
You can do that. I have my keyboard paired to mine and am using it to extend my MacBook’s desktop. It’s awesome.
Oh fuck off. You didn’t imply or even suggest that anyone had Alzheimer’s and you made a joke out of it. You suggested that he sent you an email instead of hitting “Allow”. That’s not something that people with Alzheimer’s do. People with Alzheimer’s have memory issues not an inability to read.
