It doesn’t matter why the republican base believes in their party. Incidentally, you’re not entirely wrong about why, but they’ve had rebellion too: see the TEA party.
The democrat party strategy is different. Their base isn’t aggrieved axe-grinders. They’re earnest believers in the system. The problem is that the leadership doesn’t actually want to accomplish anything that would threaten corporate profits. Trump is great for them, since all they have to do is not be him! Policies be damned.
Damn, anarchists are tankies now too? And how could “oppressed demographics” even exist in “western democracies”? And doesn’t oppressed kind of suggest that any violent action wouldn’t be “preemptive”?
It’s because democrats are unwilling or unable to deliver on real policies for working people. Of course, republicans are the same, but they more or less don’t even pretend to, choosing instead to whip up their constituents with culture war nonsense. Nobody has any faith in things improving. Repubs just want to get revenge on their cultural enemies, and democrats (voters) just want to prevent a total slide toward the far right.
Dem politicians can’t whip up excitement because it is impossible to get people excited by neoliberal policies, but that’s really all they have. Vague platitudes only work so many election cycles in a row before voters just can’t even pretend to be excited anymore.
tl:dr republicans are awful but at least their base believes in them.
No but don’t you understand kiddo? Genocides perpetrated by republicans are unconscionable, but genocides perpetrated by democrats are just savvy politicking.
Thanks. I tried flashing the previous one available (the one I was using before taking this OTA), but it also wasn’t working. I’ll keep checking the site for the new build next week, and hope that one boots for me.
Do it. If I’d had nice backups, I could have wiped and done a clean install. Instead I’m praying this gets fixed so I do lose about a month of pictures and all my 2fa tokens :p
I could not get twrp to boot from fastboot. I’ll look into flashing the stock firmware. Is there a chance that would break anything? I’m somewhat hopeful that an updated LOs4microG is released soon since the one I installed has now been marked as broken.
I couldn’t get twrp to boot :( Any twrp images for my phone are a few years old
I can’t quite figure this out. I can enable ADB from Lineage recovery, but I don’t know where my data is. I can ‘adb shell’, cd /dev, and I see a ton of shit but nothing seems like storage. I do ‘df -aH’ in /dev and it is like 5.7 Gigs free of 6. There’s no way that’s all my pictures and stuff.
My wife calls her Camry: Whale Tits.
I don’t really understand what it is you’re after. Do you want a place where people only get positive reception no matter what they say? Maybe that exists in a group therapy session, but I don’t think that’s what you’re asking for. Is it?
Is it about getting down voted? Who cares? You can’t control how other people react to your opinions and you shouldn’t try. Lemmy is diverse and it is federated. Each instance and community has its own rules and culture. If you don’t find any of the communities to your particular liking, you can always start some of your own.
I think your premise is flawed. There’s no such thing as a “hivemind” or what it implies. Opinions will exist on a spectrum of popular to unpopular depending on the community they’re posted in. I would say that those descriptors are perfectly adequate as they are.
Whenever I saw someone complaining about the “hivemind” over there, they were invariably whining about people not liking their unpopular opinion on something. When you say “hivemind” you are equating anyone with that opinion to insects/drones/NPC etc. Just because you’re different doesn’t mean you’re right.
It’s just a relevant quote given the post.
“Americans will tolerate anything [(even genocide)], provided it doesn’t block traffic.”
For sure being vegan has gotten a lot easier since I started. At home, I’m very lucky that she does most of the cooking. Sometimes she eats what she makes for me, other times she makes herself something separate. I wash the dishes to my own standards, so I don’t worry about “contamination” except for a few things: cutting board, frying pan.
Being (or being with) a vegan can be super inconvenient at times. After all these years (married for 21), we are super well-adjusted to it.
But you’d have to bribe a lot more to sway legislation, and nobody serves more than like a year or two so you can’t “buy for life”. Also, congress people are already shockingly cheap.
