They track you in a million other ways, what do you care anyway.

Some beggars do indeed see it as a job and make substantial money, that is just a fact. Doesn’t mean that there are not people in real desperate situations and needing any help they can get.
But why then are we even getting ads “not aimed at us”? Doesn’t a platform like youtube, which has access to basically all data on the google account, know us better than ourselves? Why all the tracking, only for us to be eternally bothered by stuff we’ll never buy? I’ve lost count of how many “atlas VPN” ads I’ve been bombarded with, and still no intention whatsoever of ever getting it.
A Kobo e-reader. I now read much more than before because of the convenience, and I also became a book pirate. It has paid itself multiple times on the money I’ve saved in physical books.
Yeah, but is it abandoned? I’ve been having some issues lately, and there have been no updates for a while, now.
Listen - the meteors that fall on earth every day are usually in an orbit similar to that of the earth, at more or less the same velocity. Can you picture that? There’s dust flying around with the earth, at more or less the same speed, and that dust sometimes falls into our atmosphere and lands on someone’s garden. That the normal situation.
This specific object came at the earth two times faster than any star around the solar system is moving. It crashed at the earth moving faster than everything else around us - and pieces of it survived the impact with the atmosphere!
That’s why those spherules are special - regular meteors are made from iron and, if they entered the atmosphere at that speed, they would have competely vaporized. This one impacted the ocean, pieces of it were found, and it turns out it is made of some alloy we’d never seen before (and that’s why pieces of it survived, because it’s not iron like regular meteors).
Do you understand now the significance? I would recommend you read the article before replying again.
Loeb has been calling them “spherules”.
But Loeb keeps acting like they were made my a form of life outside of our solar system, which there is zero indication of.
The indication is that we know what meteors are made of, and there is no way a meteor would ever survive reentry at the velocity this object did. Any known natural forming alloy would have completely vaporized into nothing. The fact that this object entered the atmosphere at velocities greater than solar escape velocity and peft pieces for us to find is an indication that it is composed of some unknown, very strong alloy.
That is exactly what was now confirmed: the elements found have never been found before in any meteor, nor are there known processes that could have created them naturally.
Whatever entered our atmosphere, survived all the friction and heat and crashed in the sea was either created by a still unknown natural process, or created artificially.
It seems to be getting worse every day. I used to always find something interesting to watch, and now my feed seems to be the same 10 videos or so, and the rest is stuff I’ve already watched? I feel stuck in such a small bubble!
When I changed from Chrome to Firefox a year ago or so, Firefox imported Chrome’s saved passwords, along with bookmarks and everything else.
The physical and sensor evidence is available within special access programs, and at this point no one who as been following the subject doubts that. A lot of members of congress have been briefed on those programs, and they don’t doubt that there are non-human intelligences, be it aliens or time travellers or interdimensional beings or whatever they might be.
I rest my case. How will someone like you react when it ends up being officially recognized as something even weirder than “space aliens from Mars”, I don’t know.
The thing is we both are going to get downvoted into oblivion. People who are not aware of the latest developments still see the term UFOs and think “loonies”. I am actually a bit scared that disclosure is finally upon us, and many people will have a hard time updating their worldviews.
Sorry! English is not my first language and I misunderstood you.
It’s getting a bit late to associate UFOs with idiots, honestly. Both the government and NASA have frontally admitted that there are things flying around that we can’t identify. The US just shot down 3 unidentified objects with F22’s a few months ago (and no, they were not balloons like the one everyone saw pictures of - no pictures were release of these other objects). Congress is moving forwards with new legislation to force disclosure of secret special access programs related to UFOs, after Grusch’s claims, and there will be public hearings soon.
I know the subject has been ridiculed for decades, but no one in congress who has clearance and has been briefed is laughing about it now.
I think I found a good solution: I created 3 accounts in 3 different instances. In one instance, I only subscribe to serious stuff like worldnews and technology and things like that. In another account, I subscribe only to memes. Both these accounts have NSFW disabled. The third account is the NFSW one.
At least in the Liftoff app, it’s trivial to change between accounts - so I basically have 3 separate feeds, with the added benefit that if any one of the instances is down I can still use Lemmy and see what’s going on in the “All” tab in any of the instances.
The solution is not living in the middle of anywhere, two hours away from civilization. If you lived next to the mall, you could go there by foot.
