No that’s very true, I had it look up leather repair shops not too long ago and it listed six completely fictional shops with fully fleshed out trip-advisor style blurbs for each one. It was hilariously convincing and a complete waste of my time. But it does seem like that happens less and less lately.
Yeah I told my partner about some of the stuff that goes on and her first thought was ‘they shouldn’t allow kids in religion until they’re old enough to decide for themselves’.
I’m extremely wary and nervous about how disruptive LLMs can/will be but one relief is just getting an answer directly for things instead of wading through page after page of SEO optimized BS. Just really nice when you can get a quick answer and get back to the things you want to be doing.
I suppose the AI overlords will screw that up somehow too but IMO it’s at a brief moment of usefulness.
I grew up in a sect that I like to often describe as Beer Drinkin’ Christianity because it’s really chill about most things including homosexuality and gender. It wasn’t until I had grown out of it and basically gone full agnostic that I really realized how coercive even my version of religion had been. I could go on and on but the funniest thing to me was realizing during an Abnormal Psychology 101 course in college that my Church Camp basically used every last technique they listed for brain washing. It was a fun camp and not scary in any way but yet extremely manipulative in a subversive way.
I think their point is that nearly every other phone is in the Android ecosystem, isn’t it?

All this plus I think it’s important to say to first: be EXTREMELY careful if you feel the need to critique or criticize someone who is being helpful. Really think about if it’s worth it. If what they’re doing really isn’t helping anything then maybe it’s worth it!
BUT if you just think they could do it better or if they aren’t doing it how you would do it, then think again. You might end up simply discouraging a helpful attitude that would have figured things out on their own if you had just given them a bit of vague encouragement and time.

My mom was on a plan with someone pre-Obamacare where it was obvious their policy was to reject every claim they get. She said she had to dispute every single one before they’d consider paying. Not sure if Obamacare fixed it but she moved over to Kaiser P. which is EXPENSIVE but they do seem to take really good care of you, no questions asked (when you’re in their system, of course).
Reminds me of a flight I was on with winds like that. Blowing across the runway as we tried to land. It was horrifying. The pilots had to bring the plane in at like a 30+ degree yaw (I think it’s yaw - pointing to the side) and straighten it out at the last minute.
First try they had to mulligan but I’ll be damned if they didn’t safely albeit very firmly set us down the second try.
