I mean, I have moderate expectations at best. I hope they don’t make things worse but, at the same time, I also think they’ll fall well short of achieving time travel.

Were you expecting time travel? I think you might be disappointed, if so.

The labour party is certainly flawed but you have to remember all they’ve given the people of the UK, in the brief times they’ve been in power (relatively speaking).

I’m not claiming it will fix everything but I would argue that the UK and just about every country thats had a labour movement that got into power benefited from it. Well, the 99% did.

Unless you know when the revolution is coming, it might be better to make alternative arrangements. Short of running to the hills and joining a commune, we’re quite deliberately not given any other option than to vote for better oppression.

Understandably, workers didn’t like capitalism. So, when they found out about socialism, many of them grouped up and tried to say no. After which, facsism was made to counter this.

So, I mean literally fascism is just capitalism when you try to say no. You only get mercan staal neo classical economics because you say yes.

Outside of small city states, capitalism came from merchantislism.

Specifically, at the intersection where merchantislism and mass dispossession/theft of people’s land meet.

I see a fair amount of online adverts that use them. Usually the kind you might get orbiting an article of some kind, just using AI images as their hook.

They call countries banana republics, from what could be described as oil and banking republics with just a small modification or two, without a hint of irony.

My favourite part about “woke” is that, at its heart, its just an anonymous authority fallacy.

If you look up the actual meaning of “woke”, in this context, wiki or anything reputable will tell you it means to be aware of and not want to perpetuate discrimination in society. So, not being allowed to fire someone just for being gay would fall under the definition of “woke.”

Now, conservatives will tell you "no, we don’t mean that stuff. Thats just “common sense.” You see, we all had a big meeting and we decided, as one, that this right here is common sense. However, everything past this over here, thats all woke nonsense that we don’t like…

Of course, that meeting never took place.

I’m not asking to buy your trust though. Even then, I don’t have to trust you. I only have to trust the effect money will have on you.

In terms of its effect in the real world, what would the difference be between you doing that and you genuinely convincing you it was true? To me, the importance of money and the real world effect it had on your choice to do the above dwarfs anything else. I mean, I’d do it too obviously. We all know people don’t really love their jobs and they’re just lying but who cares? They all turn up to work and bust their arse just the same. Money was important enough for you to publicly deny your own mind.

I’m not saying you have to replace trust.

How much money would it take to change your mind? I’m sure we could find a number.
