What are your options? For example, I would rather daily an '89 Corolla over a '01 Kia.
What is your budget for maintenance? There will be nuisance items go like seals and gaskets due to age, even if the engine runs strong.
What is the price? For a car that’s almost 35 years old, it better be low.
If you have a low budget, don’t have a crazy commute, and can get a couple years out of this car for a couple grand, it could be exceptionally wise decision compared to a $600/mo car payment.
Looks great.
I typed something up but it looks like it didn’t post. I think we’re saying two different things.
I’m talking specifically about the design language that you don’t like. The EV9 and the new Sante Fe, the Santa Cruz, the hatch IONIQ5 and even the divisive IONIQ6. I love those designs. They feel unique and bold. I would put them among some of my favorite designs of major, non-exotic manufacturers. Clearly just personal opinion but I feel like they’ve put out hit after hit on design, compared to whatever the hell BMW is doing as an example.
I can’t really say anything about their engine design or internal components. I’m ignorant there. I’m saying I find myself intrigued by Hyundai in spite of their terrible track record because of the design language.
Hopefully not!
Setting aside much-deserved flak about the Theta II and the immobilizer, there is little-to-no argument that Hyundai has been consistently pumping out the best and most innovative designs in the large auto manufacturer space.
You say “used to”. Has it been overfished?
I’m a fan of Connect. It goes a good job with the material you design language. Once the Sync for Lemmy is released, I’ll bounce over to that app. Overall, I’ve been very pleased with Lemmy. It doesn’t have the volume of content to the more niche fringes, but it scratches the itch all the same, and I don’t have to feel as gross doing it.
A used malibu is super uninspiring but dollar-for-dollar appears to be one of the better deals on the market if you’re sticking to that “max 3 years old” rule of thumb. The interest rates are crushing and there are so few options available at the low-end of the market. Malibus are at least on the lot.
This is a good sign. Manheim Auto Index shows the same (not sure if Cox and Manheim are connected). However, I am pessimistic about just how long dealers will be willing to stick to the current pricing model. I think even if we see the economic landscape shifting now, it could be upwards of a year before we start seeing meaningful decreases in the Used Car market. Consumer sentiment often does not react as quickly as the underlying economics.
You’re 100% right. When Hyundai announced a 5K rebate on the IONIQ6 to undercut a base Tesla, I priced one out given the rebate and an attractive 1.49% APR on 60 months. It was still $600 a month! I technically have the ability to afford that but it would stress my budget to a level that I’m not willing to do. I have a heavy commute and the ability to charge at home so it makes a ton of sense for me…but they are just too expensive right now.
Overall I am pretty intrigued by this Buick offering. The styling is different, the car is not bloated or over-complicated, and the pricing is incredibly appealing compared to most new vehicles coming to the market right now. I think it’s interesting and commendable that Buick went downmarket when everyone else is trying to pump out 50k SUVs.
I don’t think the fediverse has a realistic shot of breaking into the mainstream. However, I DO believe it has an outside chance of building up enough of a userbase to become a viable reddit alternative for me.
Fascinating. This is way more buttoned up and controlled than I thought it would be.
