Although I will add that even a maximum rebate paired with the best possible financing (1.49% over 60mo) is still north of $600 a month.

Competition. Good.
The Model 3 is still cheaper if you include the $7500 tax credit. Competition will get interesting in the next 2 years as more carmakers get their US battery factories set up and eligible for the rebates again.
I wish Hyundai would make a smaller Ioniq 5 that’s the size of a Civic Hatchback, but obviously the public “needs” their crossovers.
