For the love of all that is holy, do not assume that they will figure out everything you just typed above from the fact that you didn’t vote for them.
I don’t actually agree with your choice, but I do agree with this:
The Dems can be better, but they choose not to.
So please, if you have convinced yourself that withholding one vote out of tens of millions will somehow send them the message you are trying to send, please also convince yourself that it would be even more effective to drop them a line and let them know how you feel in explicit detail.

Same message for everyone else who chose a protest vote on Tuesday. It’s all great to feel like you did the right thing, but maybe now question whether your message will actually be received, and be sure that it does. Otherwise you put Trump in for literally nothing.
It’s OK, your explanation is not required.
And half of it is either not true for me personally, based on some hefty assumptions even if applied generally, etc…
Here’s the thing man: It doesn’t matter one bit if you and I think they were terrible people for not voting Harris despite all the very valid reasons you have listed why they should have. (All of which I agree with.)
Bottom line: Dems didn’t sell themselves to those voters in a way that worked. We can be outraged that it didn’t work, but it didn’t work.
So, we can wring our hands about how awful our fellow man is for not seeing the clear moral imperative that we do (exactly like the Genocide-Joe folks have been doing for months), or we can recognize that Dems need to start doing things differently.
Personally I’m of the opinion that unless they truly are just there to put up a token show of resistance against R while serving the same goals (and I’m not yet cynical enough to really believe that), they need to stop with this “let’s move to the right and try for some R votes” crap. It’s not getting them any R votes, and it’s clearly pissing off a lot of D. Edit: And it’s ratcheting the entire country rightward.
In my 50+ years they have never really moved to the left for more than a brief teaser. Let’s see them seriously push for some Bernie or AOC crafted policies, etc. Some actual progressive fire. Stop treating the left like political suicide, and stop treating Republicans like they can be reasoned with.
I appreciate the wisdom of your words, but the past few years have planted me squarely in the camp of “I’ll see it when I believe it” when it comes to any sort of consequence for powerful, wealthy Republicans.
Filthy rich, white. He gets the wag of the finger treatment and nothing worse. Just like Trump.

You’re getting very different sorts of Democrat mailers than I am then
Yeah but (IME) the Democrat version is essentially: No one will know if you vote Kamala, even your likely abusive maga spouse. (Edit- https://www.salon.com/2024/10/31/it-is-so-disastrous-maga-men-are-freaking-out-that-wives-may-be-secretly-voting-for-kamala-harris/)
The R version is apparently: Those of you who didn’t vote will be up against the wall if Kamala gets in because it will be your fault. Busybody neighbors are important to ensure Trump gets in again, we’re watching you.
Was a Gnome user until Gnome 3.
Since Plasma 5, I use KDE Plasma.
I’m just going to share my unvarnished opinions here, I clearly understand that Gnome users feel differently, and that’s okay.
Plasma 6 does everything I want the way I want. I have loaded it (and Plasma 5) on very low end and very high end hardware and found it performant and functional on both, consistently.
You’ll note I don’t claim it to be the best. There are folks out there for whom the Gnome vision happens to be how they like to work, or who aren’t bothered by whatever hoops you have to jump through currently to customize a Gnome environment, and I’m sincerely happy for those people. For them, Gnome is the best.
There are lots of other DEs and of course tiling WMs exist, but it takes me no time at all to have a fresh plasma install working the way I want my computer to work and looking the way I want it to look, and thus I literally have zero complaints. So for the past few years I haven’t even looked at any alternatives. If there’s ever a time that I don’t find the desktop product itself, and the KDE development team’s approach to desktop development, to be absolutely perfect fits for me, I’ll look elsewhere - but honestly probably not at Gnome.
Edit: Disregard my original reply, updated today and now it works again lol!
It launches for me (and I am in a plasma-wayland session FWIW), and it loads the thumbnails for all videos with no problem. When I click a video as if to play it, it appears to load up the main page for that video complete with play button, but nothing at all happens when I click the play button. Along the way are various api errors from youtube, but I think some of those came in even when things were working for me.
Basically I can get this far for any video:
Thank you! I actually tried setting the invidious options yesterday before making that post, thinking I might need to use that instead of localapi. But as you have predicted, no dice.
Edit - works fine after updating today lol!
Freetube on desktop Linux hasn’t worked for me for a long time - but that doesn’t seem to be the case for most people. Any tips regarding settings? I’d say it’s been at least 3 or 4 months since I could reliably use it.
I’m going with serious societal issue.
Jill Stein releases a statement: “To be clear, I only want Kamala votes please! Only former Kamala voters!”
Almost all the Trump ones are - it’s more difficult than it should be to push satire beyond things that Trump and his lackeys have actually done.
Legit visiting a McD’s and working with actual customers for awhile? Sure. An entirely staged photo op where nothing of the sort is done? Nah.
Having said that, I don’t view McD’s any more negatively than I already did for this. It is reasonable IMO for any presidential candidate to put in a stop to wherever. I am pretty doubtful that this particular franchise owner isn’t a Trump supporter, but I bet most of them are.
The first rule of usenet.
Hey you got what you wanted, and you got to post a lengthy manifesto about it. I don’t feel obligated to give you more of my time than I already have.
